Polecam for "Head to Head" on Al Jazeera

After almost 10 years of filming "Head to Head" on Al Jazeera with Polecam at the Oxford Uninon debating hall, the production moved to Conway Hall in London.

This presented some challenges but also opportunities.

On previous series at the Oxford Union, Polecam had been on the ground level, in amongst the audience, offering over the should tracking shots as well as high and wide and into and out of breaks moves.

The new location along with bigger budget for Steadicam meant new opportunities to place the Polecam on the second floor to offer a new perspective.

Using a 3m reach along with the DJI Ronin RS3 Pro stabilised head, custom control interface and the Sony FX3 with 12-24mm lens, Polecam was able to a unique view and moves, from up high, POV style in the gallery audience, moving to down low above the ground floor guests, and everything in between.

The small tripod footprint along with minimal overhang at the back of the rig and the side operated position, meant the rig could fit in the aisle of the gallery seats. Try that with some other rigs!
